Yes You May
Although May is a month packed full of celebratory activities – Mother’s Day, end of the school class parties, graduations, weddings and more, the word “may” is often associated with gaining permission. There is an old game we used to play called “Mother May I?” It centered around asking whether we should move forward or not, or it required a silly movement, ultimately distracting us from the goal of becoming the “mother.”
I find myself approaching this month with a calendar full of requests. I’m wondering how to give myself permission to opt out of the things that may be not as necessary. Maybe you find yourself in a similar set of circumstances. Look at what you have booked and determine the value of it. Your time is a commodity so you should show up to the moments that matter most…to you. Sure there are things we may have obligations to attend, but I have found lots of people and events will tug at your time and only you can give yourself permission to put them in the right order.
We will be bustling with activity at the bakery this May. We are grateful to each of our customers for the countless orders of hand piped cookies and custom cakes for your upcoming celebrations. Our shelves are stocked with special gifts for all the Moms and those serving as Moms to us.
Moms and Graduates we are proud of all you have accomplished! We have a lot going on and know you do too. Most important of all this month, we hope to arm you with the mantra “yes you may.”
