Fall Comfort

Fall has arrived and it blew in with a number of things that shook my personal space, like wind stripping the leaves from the trees, exposed to the elements.  Yet my work family here at the bakery showed up daily even when I could not. They took the lead in making preparations for the fall offerings such as our Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice Latte, Snickerdoodle Chai and Cinnamon Apple Humble Pie.  They made countless wedding cakes and delivered them with perfection to the special spaces.  They packaged thousands of cookies on time and continued to make room for new orders.  I’m so grateful for how this team works as one, even if one is out.

One of the best annual events we create each fall is our time together in our staff retreat.  We travel out of town to a lakehouse where we have the opportunity to gather outside of the pressures of work.  We eat around the table together, play games and we swim.  We go tubing on bumpy waters, working to bounce each other off at times and belly laugh at the wet spectacles we become.

It was the laughter I needed and I think they needed it too.  Fall brings darker days so we have to work extra hard at times to ensure we make the most of the light.  We talk about how at our bakery, it is important for us to care for each moment our customer brings us as many of us have no idea how hard a day has really been. We appreciate when our customers remind us what they need from us.  When we can deliver on it with excellence and 5 star ratings, it feels really good.

We all experience a fall season at some point, so we hope this upcoming one is bearable and glorious all at once.  If you need a place to get a taste of fall and a piece of comfort, come sit with us over a Chocolate Salted Caramel Cupcake.  You won’t regret it.
