Rise and Shine

This is a weekend where many of us celebrate more than a bunny delivering baskets full of goodies.  When I was little, I remember waking up early one Easter morning convinced I had a giant chocolate Easter bunny waiting for me in my basket.  I laid in bed for the extra hour thinking about how I’ve never seen a bunny so big.  When the sun broke through the morning, I woke up and climbed out of bed to ran to the basket.  Instead of finding the giant chocolate bunny, I discovered it was my dad’s set of golf clubs propped up in the hallway, angled to look like bunny ears.  You can imagine my disappointment when the morning light revealed the truth.   

This Easter morning, we can wake with the assurance of this…light wins where darkness hides and there is truth of the empty grave.   Sure, we hope for the candy, Easter egg hunts and chocolate bunnies too, but our Lord has risen and wants us all to rise and shine. Love abounds.
